Pedicle

Pedicle of vertebral arch, is the segment between the transverse process and the vertebral body, and is often used as a radiographic marker and entry point in vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty, pedicle screw placement procedures.

C. anteroposterior diameter of the vertebral body. Length measured on the midline of the vertebral body from the external cortex of the anterior border to the external cortex of the posterior border.

(d) Transverse diameter of the vertebral body. Measured from the external cortex of the right border to the external cortex of the left border.

(e) Anteroposterior diameter of the spinal canal. The length that exists between the external cortex of the posterior border of the vertebral body to the external cortex of the union of the vertebral lamina.

(f) Transverse diameter of the spinal canal. The distance that exists between the external cortex of the medial border of both pedicles.

(g) Vector 1. The distance from the skin of a line that intersects with the transverse diameter of the vertebral body to the transpedicular line.

(h) Skin. Graphic representation of the skin surface of the lumbar region.

(i) Vertebral body height.

(j) Pedicle height.

Pedicular width (a)

The skin entry site for percutaneous pedicle screw placement is lateral to the lateral edge of the pedicle.
